kirtanKirtan is about connecting to the universal energy of love through music. You may have have always felt a deep connection with music, but kirtan turns it into a deep spiritual and transformative experience. Through connecting with this feeling it brings such a peaceful and calming change that can stay with you through the days and weeks after practicing. Kirtan is a form of chanting and singing to simple, beautiful music. It can be done by yourself or more often with a group of people, where the singing can take the form of call and response. The words are usually in Sanskrit from ancient yogic teachings. Originating in India 1000's of years ago, it has become popular in the last 30 years or so in the west, particularly due to Swami Prabhupada who created the Hare Krishna movement in the 1960s. It's something best experienced and everyone can participate no matter who you are or where you are from.
