Sound Spirit is a new project created in 2010 by me - Ben Whitaker. I have been involved in music scene on the Mid North Coast for about 8 years, organising and promoting events, doing sound and performing in many groups, namely:

• Alter Native (tribal electronic dance music band)
• DJB9 (dj-ing on CDs, Turntables, laptops, orginal songs, live electronic performances and workshops using Ableton live)

Now, having put these projects on hold, I am turning my focus to bring more world and spiritual artists to the coffs harbour and bellingen areas. This reflects my own personal journey which has been about developing a spiritual connection through music and yoga over the past 5 years.

Through this website i would love to bring more than just information on events, but to develop it into a spiritual hub of the mid north coast, providing information on a range of happenings. It will also feature educational information, video, lessons, links, and free downloads on music, yoga, indian music,instruments and culture.

My long term goal would be to hold a spiritual music festival with music from traditional and modern cultures from all around the world, in a positive, relaxed and beautiful environment.

Sound Spirit is passionately commited to environmental sustainablity. All efforts are made to help reduce our ecological foot print. Some of the ways this is done include:

• using recycled paper
• minimising use of paper
• using solar power where possible
• using green services where possible

social commitment

There is no doubt that music has the power to heal. And unfortunately, some of the people who could benefit form healing music may not be able to access it; for a varity of reasons they may not be able to afford a ticket. This is why Sound Spirit is contributing free tickets to people who may be experiencing diffcult times and are unable to afford an extra expense at the moment, such as a ticket to a concert. Ticket numbers will vary depending on the size of the concert.
