saraswati veena

This is an ancient instrument from India, from the time of when the yogic philosophies evolved, about 5000 years ago. The Goddess Saraswati plays the veena; she is a creative force in the creation of the universe, responsible for knowledge and wisdom, learning and the arts. Saraswati means the essence of self. The instrument is laden with spiritual significance and symbolism. It is said that by mastering the veena, salvation can be attained without effort.

The veena has 7 strings in total, including 3 drone strings and 4 playing strings. It has 24 raised frets over a hollow neck.
